CUSTOM SHIELD GASKETS
Description
CUSTOM SHIELD gaskets and gasketing material
are a combination EMI shield with an environmental and
pressure seal.
CUSTOM SHIELD is fabricated from individual wires in a silicone solid or silicone sponge elastomer. The wire provides the EMI shielding and the elastomer provides the environmental and pressure seal. Each individual wire is oriented perpendicular to the flange mating surface and is crimped to ensure proper contact.
APPLICATIONS
CUSTOM SHIELD is recommended for use in industrial, military and commercial applications requiring EMI shielding and environmental sealing with a low to moderate closure force.
CUSTOM SHIELD with the silicone sponge elastomer is designed for applications which have severe joint unevenness, require low closure forces, have a 5 PSI maximum operating pressure and require a greater compressibility than silicone solid.
CUSTOM SHIELD with the silicone solid elastomer is designed for applications requiring moderate closure forces, high operating pressures and requiring a wider temperature range. For operating pressures up to 250 PSI, CUSTOM SHIELD strips are available with the wire contained in 0.25” (6.35) of the width of the silicone solid elastomer.
AVAILABLE CONFIGURATIONS
CUSTOM SHIELD can be fabricated from 0.0045” (.114) diameter Monel wire, .0045” (.114) phosphor bronze wire or from 0.005” (.127) diameter aluminum wire. The elastomer is available in silicone solid or in silicone sponge. A pressure sensitive adhesive is also available on CUSTOM SHIELD strips and sheets.
CUSTOM SHIELD strips and sheets are available in 3 foot lengths with the height and width listed in the following tables. For sheet widths greater than 4.5”, the sheets can be vulcanized or bonded together. CUSTOM SHIELD can also be die-cut or fabricated to any size and shape.
